A trip to the doctor.

Haiku-a-day:

Mar 3rd
Hand sanitizer
has been my best friend today.
That, and meds of course.  =)

"Hi everybody!"
"Hi Dr. Nick!"
(If you don't get that reference, you don't watch enough T.V....)

So, this morning things got worse and I felt TERRIBLE.  Not only have I not gotten a good nights rest in 8 days because for some reason I keep waking up at all hours of the night (last night I woke up at exactly 5:00AM...very odd? yes quite), but this morning my symptoms were worsened.  I got conjunctivitis (gross) and had a short bout of stomach flu, but I believe that was only because of anxiety.
I decided that I couldn't take it anymore, I was going to see a doctor.  I asked a flatmate of mine to go with me and together we walked down to the main student clinic.  Unfortunately they only do appointments...  The receptionist asked me if my circumstance could wait until tomorrow, but I didn't want to wait, so I asked if there was another place to go where they do walk-ins.  She informed me of a place and we went there.
The whole experience in this second place was quite quick.  We got there, I filled out paperwork, paid £25 (~$40) via credit card (I believe I will be getting reimbursed b/c I have study abroad health insurance), and soon was seated in the Doctor's office.  Literally, the appointment took less than 5 minutes.  I told her how I felt, she examined my eyes, ears, mouth and then wrote me 2 prescriptions.  That was it, so I left.
I am quite glad to have drugs that are helping me get better, but £25 for less than 5 minutes?  Really?!  I should also mention that the prescriptions were quite cheap, by the way.  With a £5 coupon a lady gave me, I only paid £9 for antibiotics, Sudafed, and eye drops.  Those 3 coupled with my hand sanitizer and all the prayers being sent my way, I should be better in no time!  Amen and amen.
Also, I would just like to give myself a little pat on the back because right now I am 10 pages into my computer science essay!  Much more to go (maybe now you can tell why I said I hate this class?!), but at least I made it this far today!  I even figured out how to recover my EndNote library (a software program that holds my citations) when the program suddenly quit on me for the 2nd time now!!!  After spending about 6 hours looking up citations, I almost cried when it quit on me.  However, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," including figuring out how to recover my lost files, something my professor said she couldn't help me with!
Ok, so, my goal is to finish this essay tonight.  I figure I'll get done by about 2:00AM my time (8:00PM in WI).  I expect it will be 12-13 pages give or take a few.  Sounds not so bad considering I got through 10 in about 4 hours, however, these last few are the most tedious of all.  I have to create an index which means a lot of inserting fields and subfields of references, etc. throughout the first 10 pages, then creating the index, then inserting my bibliography via EndNote, then attaching a print-out version of my EndNote citations with expanded notes.  Hmm, maybe I should aim for 3:00AM?!  =)
Stay healthy!
